This thesis analyzes the National Electronic Register on Waste Traceability in Italy (RENTRI), examining its effectiveness and the challenges associated with its implementation. The strengths and weaknesses of the system are assessed based on a detailed study of the Italy’s regulations related to RENTRI, API methodology, focusing on digital FIR compilation, and the management of the loading/unloading record. Through an analysis of current waste management practices, the impact of RENTRI on sustainability and efficiency in waste management in Italy is evaluated. The thesis also proposes solutions to address the identified critical issues, suggesting opportunities for future research aimed at improving sustainable waste management and promoting the concept of the circular economy.
