The proposed thesis is the result of a curricular internship experience carried out in the Packaging Technology Corporate Center (PTCC) laboratory at the company Acqua Minerale San Benedetto SPA, a leading company in the Italian non-alcoholic beverage market. In the modern world, attention to issues such as plastic recycling, environmental sustainability and pollution is among the topics of greatest interest not only at a local level, but also at a global level. During the internship, several samples of bottles produced with virgin PET (100% PET) and as many samples of bottles produced with RPET, with different percentages of recycled material, were analyzed. The aim of the thesis is to check and analyze any similarities between the samples in the various tests carried out and, if there were any, potential differences in the use of the two materials in the beverage sector. Specifically, the first part of the thesis will be aimed at describing the chemical and physical properties, as well as the main uses of the materials mentioned above, with particular attention to the field of PET recycling and the regulations that govern this aspect. Subsequently, after providing a detailed description, we will move on to analyze the tests carried out, such as the thermal stability of the samples produced with virgin PET and RPET and finally conclude with an analysis of the results obtained in the tests carried out.
