Elderliness is a complex phase of life because it is characterized by the physical and mental weakness of the individual. Often the figure of the elderly person is accompanied by prejudices and stereotypes about frailty that undermine his or her self-esteem, toward a state of social isolation. This approach is experienced most by elderly people residing in residential facilities, who have been diagnosed with a dementia-like illness, associated with the condition of wandering. The figure of the educator within this structure is essential to promote in the elderly individual the formation of a state of well-being aimed at the rediscovery of his or her own identity and value. Through the design of targeted educational activities, the wandering individual can also be integrated into a community space, whereby, by noticing positive effects, strategies and techniques can be implemented by the educator, accompanied by continuous and constant training, the potential for learning can be demonstrated.

Abstract
Elderliness is a complex phase of life because it is characterized by the physical and mental weakness of the individual. Often the figure of the elderly person is accompanied by prejudices and stereotypes about frailty that undermine his or her self-esteem, toward a state of social isolation. This approach is experienced most by elderly people residing in residential facilities, who have been diagnosed with a dementia-like illness, associated with the condition of wandering. The figure of the educator within this structure is essential to promote in the elderly individual the formation of a state of well-being aimed at the rediscovery of his or her own identity and value. Through the design of targeted educational activities, the wandering individual can also be integrated into a community space, whereby, by noticing positive effects, strategies and techniques can be implemented by the educator, accompanied by continuous and constant training, the potential for learning can be demonstrated.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
