This paper aims to analyze the relationship between Andrea Palladio and the Antique, focusing on the specific case of the Porticus Octaviae, whose model is reinterpreted by the Venetian architect in three buildings located in the Vicenza area: Villa Chiericati, La Rotonda, and Palazzo Chiericati. The composition begins with a description of the Porticus Octaviae, tracing its historical and architectural development, with particular attention to the Augustan phase. Subsequently, the ways in which Palladio engages with the Ancient are explored, with the trips to Rome being crucial: these provide the opportunity to directly observe ancient buildings and reproduce them through drawing. The thesis concludes with an analysis of the aforementioned Palladian buildings, examining their patronage, architectural features, and relationship with the surrounding context, while also considering the reference to the model of the Porticus under examination.
