Il calcio come specchio della società e la subcultura dell’hooliganismo.

The aim of this thesis is to explore through a sociological lens the connection that links football and organized fans with society, dealing with the most relevant aspects from the birth of football itself to the present day. The purpose of the thesis is to provide a perspective that highlights how football is like a "mirror" that reflects the dynamics and changes of the social sphere, transforming them into its own behaviors and customs. After an historical contextualization of the phenomenon, sociological concepts and theories will be used in order to specify which elements have influenced and shaped both sport and the rituals of those who attend sports events. These concepts are part of the studies of Norbert Elias and Eric Dunning: the process of civilization, the repression of deviance and the studies of the Birmingham School on youth subcultures.

La presente tesi si pone come obbiettivo quello di esplorare attraverso una lente sociologica il legame tra il mondo del calcio e del tifo organizzato e la società, trattando gli aspetti più rilevanti dalla nascita del calcio stesso fino ai giorni nostri. Lo scopo dell’elaborato è quello di fornire una prospettiva che evidenzi come il calcio sia uno “specchio” che riflette le dinamiche e i cambiamenti della sfera sociale trasformandole in comportamenti e usanze proprie. Dopo una contestualizzazione storica del fenomeno, si utilizzeranno concetti e teorie sociologiche al fine di specificare quali elementi hanno influenzato e forgiato sia lo sport che i rituali e le abitudini di chi assiste alle manifestazioni sportive. Tali concetti fanno parte degli studi di Norbert Elias ed Eric Dunning: il processo di civilizzazione, la repressione delle devianze e gli studi della Scuola di Birmingham sulle subculture giovanili.
