Il ruolo e le trasformazioni della festa della Madonna del Carmelo di S. Giovanni Gemini (AG): tra storia ed etnografia

What I have investigated in my thesis is the role and transformations of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in San Giovanni Gemini. I have analyzed it both from a general perspective, treating the elements of the religious feast according to religious anthropology, and from the specific historical perspective of the place where the feast takes place, through ethnographic research. The latter developed both by working in the field—living and observing the festive events—and by conducting interviews. These interviews were designed around the idea of a generational diversity in the perception of the feast in San Giovanni Gemini. The thesis consists of an introduction, a first chapter, a second chapter, a third chapter, a conclusion, an appendix, and a bibliography. The first chapter deals with the religious feast in general; the second chapter covers the history of the Carmelite Order in general and specifically in San Giovanni Gemini, including the history of the feast itself; in the third chapter, I discuss the contemporary feast and the results of the interviews.

Ciò che ho indagato nella mia tesi è il ruolo e le trasformazioni della festa della Madonna del Carmelo di San Giovanni gemini: l’ho analizzata sia da un punto di vista generale, quindi trattando gli elementi della festa religiosa secondo l’antropologia religiosa, sia dal punto di vista storico particolare del luogo in cui avviene la festa e attraverso una ricerca etnografica. Quest’ultima si è sviluppata sia lavorando sul campo, quindi vivendo e osservando gli eventi festivi, che facendo delle interviste: queste sono state fatte seguendo l’idea di una diversità generazionale nella percezione della festa a San Giovanni Gemini. La tesi è formata da un introduzione, primo capitolo, secondo capitolo, terzo capitolo, conclusione, appendice e bibliografia. Nel primo capitolo si tratta la festa religiosa in generale; nel secondo capitolo la storia dei Frati Carmelitani in generale e particolare in San Giovanni Gemini, quindi ho anche trattato la storia della festa; nel terzo capitolo ho scritto della festa odierna e dei risultati delle interviste.
