Tener la forma del agua: los desafíos de la identidad en El Rey del Agua de Claudia Aboaf

This thesis aims to analyze an alternative form of existence within the reality depicted in El Rey Del Agua by the writer, professor, and astrologer Claudia Aboaf. The study will begin with the concept of “liquidity,” developed by sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, and will then address various identity-related issues. It will be structured into three chapters. The first chapter will highlight the triggering event that leads the protagonists to increasingly distance themselves from the label of daughters. The second chapter will delve into the forbidden zones of the web, where otherness wanders without the possibility of returning to their bodies, sitting in front of the computer screen. The third and final chapter will illustrate the doorway through which one can free himself from the genetic and corporeal chains, which, in this liquid Territory, will no longer be able to hold anything. The purpose of my thesis is to shed light on how the only form of survival in El Rey Del Agua is to surrender to the flow of water, without offering any further resistance.

Questa tesi si propone di analizzare una diversa forma di esistere all’interno della realtà proposta nell’opera El Rey Del Agua della scrittrice, docente e astrologa Claudia Aboaf. Lo studio partirà dal concetto di “liquidità”, sviluppato dal sociologo Zygmunt Bauman per poi attraversare diverse questioni di tipo identitario. Sarà articolato in tre capitoli, in particolare: il primo capitolo si occuperà di evidenziare l’episodio scatenante che porterà le protagoniste ad allontanarsi sempre più dall’etichetta di figlie; il secondo capitolo si immergerà nelle zone vietate del web dove vagano alterità senza possibilità di tornare ai propri corpi seduti di fronte allo schermo del computer; il terzo ed ultimo capitolo illustrerà la porta attraverso la quale ci si potrà liberare dalle catene genetiche e corporee che, in questo Territorio liquido, non potranno più trattenere nulla. Lo scopo della mia tesi è quello di mettere in luce come l’unica forma di sopravvivenza, all’interno del Rey Del Agua, sia quella di abbandonarsi allo scorrere dell’acqua senza opporre più resistenza.
