This research explores the evolving landscape of the Italian film industry in the digital era, focusing on the impact of streaming platforms through the lens of media convergence studies. It analyses recent data on Italian cinema, exploring film industry dynamics, the role of major studios, and funding structures while investigating how traditional distribution models intersect with alternative exhibition spaces. Additionally, it considers how streaming technologies have reshaped audience behaviour and distribution strategies, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a qualitative case study approach, this study analyses three emerging independent streaming platforms: Youmovie, IndieCinema, and ZaLab View. Investigating these three platforms' interfaces, catalogues, and user engagement to evaluate their impact on the visibility and accessibility of independent Italian cinema. By providing insights into these platforms' contributions, the study highlights their role in supporting independent Italian productions in the distribution and exhibition phase.

Abstract
By providing insights into these platforms' contributions, the study highlights their role in supporting independent Italian productions in the distribution and exhibition phase.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
