This thesis analyzes the role of communication in addressing the issue of gender-based violence, with a particular focus on three distinct modes of communication: political, national, and media-based. Through critical analysis, the study investigates how each type addresses the topic, the messages conveyed, and their impact on public perception of the phenomenon. The second part of the thesis focuses on the case of Giulia Cecchettin, which has become a symbol of gender-based violence in Italy and has personally touched our university, examining how her story was narrated by politicians, traditional media, and social media. The thesis includes the findings of a focus group and a survey that explore public reactions and perceptions regarding communication about the Cecchettin case and gender-based violence more broadly. Finally, some proposals for more effective and responsible communication are analyzed, aiming to raise societal awareness and foster meaningful cultural change.
