Handwriting is a complex process that requires the involvement of various skills, including fine-motor control, manual dexterity, visuospatial abilities, and working memory. Deficits in these areas can result in difficulties in acquiring adequate handwriting skills, as is often observed in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The present study aims to describe the kinematic pattern associated with handwriting and analyze the contribution of motor and visuospatial predictors to the handwriting process in children and adolescents aged 8 to 16 years. A comparison was made between a group with ASD without intellectual disability (N=15) and a group without any diagnosis (N=18). Digitalized - standardized and experimental - tasks were administered to assess the aforementioned abilities. The results will be discussed in relation to the initial hypotheses and the existing literature, including potential future applications in clinical and educational settings.
La scrittura è un processo articolato che richiede il coinvolgimento di diverse abilità, tra cui il controllo fino-motorio, la destrezza manuale, le capacità visuo-spaziali e la memoria di lavoro. Deficit in tali aree possono generare difficoltà nell’acquisizione di una scrittura adeguata, come spesso osservato nella popolazione con Disturbo dello Spettro dell’Autismo (ASD). Il presente studio si pone l’obiettivo di descrivere il pattern cinematico legato alla scrittura, nonché di analizzare il contributo di indici motori e visuo-spaziali nel processo di scrittura in bambini e ragazzi tra gli 8 e i 16 anni, confrontando un gruppo con ASD senza disabilità intellettiva (N=15) e uno senza alcuna diagnosi (N=18). Sono state somministrate prove digitalizzate, standardizzate e sperimentali, al fine di valutare le abilità sopra menzionate. I risultati saranno discussi in relazione alle ipotesi di partenza e alla letteratura di riferimento, includendo possibili prospettive future di applicazione in ambiti clinici ed educativi.
