Body dissatisfaction represents a significant issue during adolescence, with potential repercussions on psychological well-being and an increased risk of developing psychopathological disorders. Parental pressures on adolescents' physical appearance, such as direct bodily criticisms, constitute a major contributing factor to this condition. Although the literature has predominantly explored parental influence through adolescents' reported perceptions, few studies have directly involved parents, investigating their body-related experiences and their potential impact on adolescents' body image. This study aims to address this gap and expand the understanding of familial patterns of body dissatisfaction and satisfaction by analyzing the relationship between maternal body image and that of adolescent children. Specifically, the research seeks to determine whether a negative perception of their own bodies by mothers represents a risk factor, while a positive perception may act as a protective element for the psychological well-being of their children.

Abstract
Specifically, the research seeks to determine whether a negative perception of their own bodies by mothers represents a risk factor, while a positive perception may act as a protective element for the psychological well-being of their children.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
