This work analyzes the introduction of Brownian motion in finance, focusing on its historical foundations, theoretical aspects, and practical applications. The contribution of Louis Bachelier, who first used the concept to model price dynamics, is examined alongside the subsequent development of the Black-Scholes model. The thesis also explores the empirical limitations of Brownian motion compared to real-world data, offering insights into alternative models.

Abstract
This work analyzes the introduction of Brownian motion in finance, focusing on its historical foundations, theoretical aspects, and practical applications. The contribution of Louis Bachelier, who first used the concept to model price dynamics, is examined alongside the subsequent development of the Black-Scholes model. The thesis also explores the empirical limitations of Brownian motion compared to real-world data, offering insights into alternative models.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
