This thesis explores the literary contributions of Mary Sidney Herbert, a female writer of the Elizabethan era. The study focuses on her role in the translation and adaptation of the Sidney Psalms and offers an analysis of her poems "Even now that Care" and "To the Angel Spirit of the Most Excellent Sir Philip Sidney". The first chapter provides an overview of Mary Sidney's life and literary works, highlighting her connection to Queen Elizabeth I. The second chapter examines the Sidney Psalms as a work of devotional literature placing them in the context of previous translations of the Psalms. The third chapter examines her dedicatory poem "Even now that Care" showing her engagement with themes such as spirituality and grief and "To the Angel Spirit of the Most Excellent Sir Philip Sidney", written in honor of her brother.
