The agreement signed in 2025 between Italy and Albania represents a crucial step within the framework of European migration policies, aimed at more effectively managing migration flows between the two countries. This agreement is part of an international context where irregular migration is a growing and complex phenomenon, requiring increasingly close cooperation between countries of origin, transit, and destination. The agreement between Italy and Albania addresses these issues through a series of practical measures, ranging from strengthening border security to improving repatriation procedures, and creating legal migration channels. These channels are intended to facilitate regular migration flows, encouraging the mobility of skilled people and fostering cultural, educational, and professional exchanges between the two nations. A central aspect of the agreement is the collaboration between Italian and Albanian authorities, which translates into joint operations to monitor and manage migration flows, particularly aimed at preventing and combating irregular migration. Repatriations are strengthened with the introduction of more structured and timely policies, including better reintegration of returned migrants into their country of origin. The agreement also includes a strong commitment to the integration of regular migrants, with initiatives aimed at promoting social, economic, and labor inclusion, as well as ensuring the protection of the fundamental rights of those involved. This thesis thoroughly explores the political, social, and economic implications of the agreement, analyzing its effects on the two countries involved, but also on broader dynamics at the European and regional levels. Special attention is given to human rights, a critical issue in migration management, and how the agreement may contribute to mitigating the risks associated with irregular migration, such as the exploitation of migrants and political instability. Furthermore, the long-term effects of the agreement on the stability of the Balkan region are examined, a geopolitical area that continues to face challenges in terms of security and international cooperation. Finally, the thesis discusses the potential implications of this agreement for future European Union migration policies, exploring how the Italy-Albania agreement could serve as a model for other bilateral collaborations and for a more integrated and sustainable management of migration flows within the European context.

Abstract
Finally, the thesis discusses the potential implications of this agreement for future European Union migration policies, exploring how the Italy-Albania agreement could serve as a model for other bilateral collaborations and for a more integrated and sustainable management of migration flows within the European context.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
