Questionnaires for the study of aesthetic experiences, a survey and comparison

The goal of this thesis is to compile evidence that aesthetic experience can be measured scientifically through the use of both theoretical and empirical means. After a brief introduction to the history of aesthetic experience, a detailed overview of the scientific literature on the topic is presented, and a review comparing the psychometric scales developed over time to measure different aspects of aesthetic experience is also provided. Ultimately, conclusions are drawn on both the present state of research in this field and the possible directions of future research.

L'obiettivo di questa tesi è raccogliere prove a sostegno dell’idea che l’esperienza estetica possa essere misurata scientificamente, mediante l’uso di strumenti sia teorici che empirici. Dopo una breve introduzione alla storia dell’esperienza estetica, viene presentata un'analisi dettagliata della letteratura scientifica sull’argomento, seguita da una presentazione illustrativa delle scale psicometriche sviluppate nel tempo per misurare i diversi aspetti dell’esperienza estetica. In conclusione, vengono tratte considerazioni sullo stato attuale della ricerca in questo ambito e sulle possibili direzioni per gli studi futuri.
