This thesis aims to investigate some psycho-social factors that determine the behavior of sorting plastic, glass, and aluminum waste in the workplace. The theoretical model of reference is the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB; Ajzen, 1991), extended with the Green Organizational Climate (GOC; Costa et al., 2022). The research was conducted in two phases (T1 and T2). At T1, an initial online questionnaire was administered to assess TPB constructs and GOC. At T2, a second online questionnaire measured self-reported recycling behavior carried out in the previous four weeks. The participants were 781 Italian working adults (53.6% men; average age 40.73 years). Results showed that the model explains 31.1% of the variance in intention and 23.2% of the variance in behavior. The most important predictor of intention is perceived behavioral control. Intention, perceived behavioral control, and GOC predict behavior. GOC does not increase the explained variance share of intention, but increases by 1% to the explained variance share of behavior. The findings suggest that the organization’s commitment to the environment should be made visible through concrete practices in order to make it more likely that pro-environmental behaviors will be enacted at work by individual employees.

Abstract
The findings suggest that the organization’s commitment to the environment should be made visible through concrete practices in order to make it more likely that pro-environmental behaviors will be enacted at work by individual employees.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
