Eating disorders (EDs) are serious and life-threatening mental health conditions that pose significant challenges in terms of diagnosis, progression, and long-term management. With the advancement of digital technologies in healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool to support the assessment and treatment of EDs. This thesis provides a bibliographic review of the current literature on the use of AI in the treatment of EDs. Specifically, it aims to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-based tools for early symptom diagnosis, personalized interventions, and online treatment delivery. Ethical considerations, limitations, and future research directions will also be discussed. This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how AI can complement traditional therapeutic approaches and provide more effective and accessible treatment for people with EDs.
