The present research examined the satisfaction with Visual Art Therapy (VAT) for adults with mental disorders in the Psychiatric Department of the Military Medical Academia in Belgrade, Serbia. The study used a mixed-methods approach, gathering both quantitative and qualitative data. A total of N = 12 patients with different mental disorders completed the quantitative data section, which measured the Art Therapy Satisfaction, a short scale created for the purpose of this study. Furthermore, six open-ended questions were asked to investigate patients’ lived experiences related to VAT. The patients showed satisfaction through both quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data showed moderate-to-high satisfaction with VAT, while qualitative data presented overall satisfaction with the therapy, as well as with specific factors such as the artistic aspects of the therapy, the improvement in their mental health, with the analysis of artworks being the most useful aspect.
