This thesis aims to analyse the influence of the Black Lives Matter movement on not only the internal policies of the United States but also in the broader context of global regulations regarding civil rights. The work is of a compilatory nature and is based on the analysis of articles and documents produced by international oversight bodies related to the main conventions on civil rights and U.S. internal laws, with the aim of understanding the movement’s impact in these contexts. The thesis is divided into two phases of analysis: the first chapter discusses the movement from its inception to its spread, and then analyses the connection with the main oversight bodies to understand the actual weight of the movement in global civil rights policies; while the second chapter examines whether the movement has played a role in bridging U.S. law and international human rights standards.
La presente tesi si propone di analizzare l’influenza del movimento per i diritti sociali Black Lives Matter nel contesto non solo nelle politiche interne degli Stati Uniti ma anche in nel contesto più amplio delle normative globali in riferimento ai diritti civili. L’elaborato ha carattere compilativo e si basa sull’analisi di articoli e documenti prodotti da organi di controllo internazionali relativi alle principali convenzioni per i diritti civili e delle norme statunitensi interne volta a comprendere l’impatto del movimento in tali contesti. La tesi suddiviso in due fasi di analisi: nel primo capitolo viene trattato il movimento dalla sua nascita alla sua diffusione andando poi ad analizzare il legame con i principali organi di controllo per comprendere l’effettivo peso del movimento nelle politiche globali per i diritti civili; mentre nel secondo si analizza invece se il movimento abbai
