Robert Pippin is considered one of the greatest contemporary interpreters of Hegel. His positions have helped to actualize the Stuttgart philosopher's thought by giving new life to American-born Hegelism. Recently, his interpretation has undergone a Heideggerian Kehre, thus opening a new debate on the status of philosophy itself. The following paper aims to follow the evolution of Pippin's thought from his early writings to his last pivotal work The culmination: Heidegger, German Idealism, and the fate of philosophy. The paper will be divided into three sections: in the first part, the development of Pippin's thought will be investigated, from the earliest interpretations in a Sellarsian key to the latest interpretations in a Heideggerian key; then an attempt will be made to trace in broad outline the polemical confrontation that Heidegger established with Hegel in the course of his Denkweg; finally, an in-depth analysis of the American philosopher's last work will be made.
The culmination: Heidegger, German Idealism, and the fate of philosophy.

Abstract
Robert Pippin is considered one of the greatest contemporary interpreters of Hegel. His positions have helped to actualize the Stuttgart philosopher's thought by giving new life to American-born Hegelism. Recently, his interpretation has undergone a Heideggerian Kehre, thus opening a new debate on the status of philosophy itself. The following paper aims to follow the evolution of Pippin's thought from his early writings to his last pivotal work The culmination: Heidegger, German Idealism, and the fate of philosophy. The paper will be divided into three sections: in the first part, the development of Pippin's thought will be investigated, from the earliest interpretations in a Sellarsian key to the latest interpretations in a Heideggerian key; then an attempt will be made to trace in broad outline the polemical confrontation that Heidegger established with Hegel in the course of his Denkweg; finally, an in-depth analysis of the American philosopher's last work will be made.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
