Seals are an extremely important species in the ocean due to their ecological niche where they influence many species around them. Especially the grey seal which is an apex predator in the Wadden sea. Both grey and common seals are protected species in many countries so there are many projects to ensure the species' well being. Among these are rehabilitation centers such as the WEC located in the Netherlands. It can be useful for there to be a guide on the rehabilitation process of these creatures for any new projects that may be started
