This thesis focuses on the songs and music present in the novel The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, describing their characteristics and analyzing the most important musical adaptations: the Donald Swann's song cycle (1967) and the soundtrack to Peter Jackson's films (2001-2002-2003) composed by Howard Shore.
Questa tesi si concentra sui canti e sulle musiche presenti nel romanzo Il signore degli anelli di J.R.R.Tolkien, descrivendone le caratteristiche e analizzandone i più importanti adattamenti musicali: il ciclo di canzoni di Donald Swann (1967) e la colonna sonora dei film di Peter Jackson (2001-2002-2003) composta da Howard Shore.
