The aim of the paper is to analyze the reasons behind the criticisms received when "La classe operaia va in paradiso" (1971) by Elio Petri was released and what are the reasons that over the years have led to the re-evaluation of this film. The film was subjected to harsh attacks by the critics of the time who defined it as a film that gave an incorrect, simplistic and at times denigrating portrait of the figure of the worker. Only in recent times has it been re-evaluated by left-wing intellectuals as a fundamental representation of the class struggle and an effective portrayal of the problems of the society it represented.

L'elaborato si pone come obiettivo quello di analizzare i motivi dietro alle critiche che ricevette alla sua uscita nelle sale "La classe operaia va in paradiso"(1971) di Elio Petri e di quali siano i motivi che negli anni hanno portato alla rivalutazione di tale pellicola. Il film subì duri attacchi da parte della critica schierata dell'epoca che lo definì un film che dava un ritratto errato, semplicistico e a tratti denigratorio della figura dell'operaio. solo in tempi recenti è stato rivalutato dagli intellettuali di sinistra come una rappresentazione fondamentale della lotta di classe ed un dipinto efficace delle problematiche della società che rappresentava.
