Incontro e scontro tra culture: dinamiche di integrazione e resistenze in Italia

This thesis aims to analyze the phenomenon of globalization and its impact on migration dynamics in Italy, examining the causes, modalities, and consequences within the context of an increasingly interconnected world. In particular, attention will be focused on the management of migration flows in Italy, with an in-depth analysis of the functioning of reception centers, the financial resources allocated by the European Union, and the main areas of daily life with which migrants interact, such as the labor market and the educational system. A further focus will be dedicated to the role of religion, considered a crucial element both in the construction of personal identity and in the process of social integration. The inclusion of migrants is neither an easy nor an immediate process, nor is it free of obstacles. On the one hand, being welcomed into a new society requires migrants to adapt to a cultural, linguistic, and regulatory context often very different from their country of origin; on the other hand, the host society faces numerous challenges, linked both to the management of the reception system and to the fears and insecurities that may arise when interacting with communities different from their own. These difficulties can sometimes fuel stereotypes and generalizations, further hindering the integration process. The final part of the work will be dedicated to conducting six interviews - three with Italians and three with migrants - with the aim of gathering concrete testimonies about the migration process and the perception of migrants by the host society.

La presente tesi si propone di analizzare il fenomeno della globalizzazione e il suo impatto sulle dinamiche migratorie in Italia, esaminandone le cause, le modalità e le conseguenze nel contesto di un mondo sempre più interconnesso. In particolare, l’attenzione sarà rivolta alla gestione dei flussi migratori in Italia, approfondendo in particolare il funzionamento dei centri di accoglienza, le risorse economiche messe a disposizione dall’Unione Europea e i principali ambiti della vita quotidiana con cui i migranti entrano in contatto, come il mercato del lavoro e il sistema scolastico. Un ulteriore focus sarà dedicato al ruolo della religione, considerata un elemento cruciale tanto nella costruzione dell’identità personale quanto nel percorso di integrazione sociale. L’inclusione dei migranti non è un processo facile e immediato, né tanto meno privo di ostacoli. Da un lato, essere accolti in una nuova società implica per i migranti la necessità di adattarsi a un contesto culturale, linguistico e normativo spesso molto diverso da quello di origine; dall’altro, la società ospitante si trova a fronteggiare numerose sfide, legate sia alla gestione del sistema di accoglienza, sia alle paure e insicurezze che possono emergere nel confronto con comunità diverse dalla propria. Queste difficoltà possono talvolta alimentare stereotipi e generalizzazioni, ostacolando ulteriormente il processo di integrazione. L'ultima parte del lavoro sarà dedicata alla realizzazione di sei interviste, a tre italiani e tre migranti, con l'obiettivo di raccogliere testimonianze concrete sul processo migratorio e sulla percezione del migrante da parte della società ospitante.
