From the earliest stages of life, music becomes an integral part of every individual's journey, accompanying them at every stage. This thesis work aims to investigate how music education can influence children's cognitive and emotional development by analyzing the benefits that sound and music experience can bring in the school setting. Through an analysis of the scientific literature and leading pedagogical and psychological theories, the ways in which music can impact cognitive functions, foster emotion management, and encourage the development of empathy and social skills are explored. Special attention is given to music therapy, which is considered as an educational and therapeutic activity capable of promoting children's well-being. Its ability to handle situations of emotional distress, anxiety and relational difficulties is examined, with the aim of fostering the creation of school environments that are more inclusive and sensitive to students' affective sphere. The analysis shows how the integration of music within educational settings not only enriches the learning experience, but also represents a valuable tool for fostering children's emotional development and preventing possible conditions of distress.
