This thesis explores the ascetic paths in ancient and classical India, analyzing the concept of renunciation and spiritual realization through the āśrama system, the four stages of life: brahmacarya (student life), gṛhastha (householder life), vānaprastha (retirement), and sannyāsa (renunciation). The second part of the work focuses on the universe of Yoga, examining the main traditional schools, particularly Rāja Yoga and Haṭha Yoga, and highlighting the practical techniques aimed at self-transformation. Special attention is given to the study of the cakras, understood as energetic centers within the subtle body, and their role in the ascetic dynamic as tools for inner awakening and the ascent of kuṇḍalinī. Through a comparative analysis of classical texts (such as the Upanishads and the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali) of ritual and meditative practices, the thesis aims to offer an integrated understanding of ascetic paths in India, between ethical discipline, bodily exercise and the search for the divine.

Abstract
Through a comparative analysis of classical texts (such as the Upanishads and the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali) of ritual and meditative practices, the thesis aims to offer an integrated understanding of ascetic paths in India, between ethical discipline, bodily exercise and the search for the divine.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
