This thesis aims to explore the possible associations between perceived classroom climate and the development of specific cognitive and socio-behavioral skills in school-age children. In particular, the study focused on executive functions, with attention to attentional and inhibitory processes, as well as on the socio-behavioral skills of children aged 8 to 13 years. The sample was assessed using various tools: the My Class Inventory to investigate the classroom climate, the Leiter-3 for sustained attention, the NEPSY for the inhibitory component, and the SSIS questionnaire for social and behavioral skills. The first chapter will explore the construct of Class Climate. Specifically, following a brief introduction to the origin of the construct and its relevance in the psychopedagogical field, the various definitions and main theoretical models found in the literature will be presented. The dimensions of the construct will be explored and the assessment tools will be presented, with a focus on the MCI. The second chapter will address the topic of social and behavioral skills and executive functions with related definitions, theories, and reference models. The assessment tools used to investigate possible relationships between constructs will be presented. The third chapter defines the objective and hypothesis of the following research and describes the method adopted to explore the possible correlation between classroom climate and attentional/behavioral aspects. The characteristics of the sample of participants selected for the study are initially outlined. This includes relevant demographic information such as gender and age. The method used to collect the data is then examined. Finally, the procedure used to administer the materials and the data processing methods will be presented. The fourth chapter presents the data analysis. This section aims to analyze and interpret the results of the assessments in order to explore the relationship between the variables involved. Finally, the results will be discussed in light of the hypotheses and the reference literature, and the limitations of the study and future research prospects will be presented.
