Traditional psychological assessment presents significant limitations. Thanks to the application of Formal Psychological Assessment (FPA), computerized adaptive questionnaires can be developed. These questionnaires are less time-consuming and increase the accuracy of the results, while providing the individual’s response pattern. The present study aims to develop and validate a computerized adaptive assessment tool for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) through the application of FPA. A list of attributes was derived through an in-depth analysis of the main theoretical models provided by the scientific literature and the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-5. Similarly, an initial list of items was created by selecting them from the main instruments used to assess GAD. A Boolean matrix was built, and by observing the object-attribute relationship, a final list of non-redundant items was created, ensuring that all attributes were investigated. To assess the psychometric properties, a sample of 496 Italian adults was recruited and administered the final list of items, along with the GAD-7 and the Brief Sensation Seeking Scale (BSSS), to evaluate convergent and divergent validity, respectively. Based on the general matrix, three submatrices were created and validated using the probabilistic model known as the Basic Local Independence Model (BLIM). Subsequently, the adaptive testing algorithm was implemented, which selects the most informative items based on the respondent’s previous answers. Finally, the main limitations and future directions are discussed.

Abstract
Finally, the main limitations and future directions are discussed.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
