The plant-based diet has attracted significant interest, both for ethical and environmental reasons, as well as for its potential health benefits. This type of dietary regimen excludes or significantly reduces the consumption of animal-based products, promoting the intake of plant-based foods such as legumes, grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts. The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of a vegan plant-based diet in artistic gymnastics, focusing on potential nutritional deficiencies and strategies to balance the diet in order to optimize athletic performance. Artistic gymnastics is a sport that requires muscular endurance, explosive strength, and a high capacity for recovery. As a result, nutrition is a key and determining factor in an athlete's performance.
Negli ultimi anni, la dieta plant-based ha suscitato notevole interesse, sia per motivi etici e ambientali, sia per i suoi potenziali benefici sulla salute. Questo tipo di regime alimentare esclude o riduce in modo significativo il consumo di prodotti di origine animale, promuovendo l’assunzione di alimenti di origine vegetale quali legumi, cereali, verdura, frutta, semi e frutta secca. L’obiettivo di questo studio è analizzare l’efficacia della dieta plant-based vegana nella ginnastica artistica, focalizzandosi sui possibili deficit nutrizionali e sulle strategie per bilanciare l’alimentazione al fine di ottimizzare la performance sportiva. La ginnastica artistica è uno sport che richiede resistenza muscolare, forza esplosiva, e un’elevata capacità di recupero. Di conseguenza l’alimentazione è un fattore chiave e determinante per la performance dell’atleta.
