The report outlines the activities carried out during the internship at ECO-D Environmental Systems for Industry S.r.l., with a specific focus on the design and development of systems for the treatment of fumes generated by electric arc furnaces (EAF). The main objective was to deepen the understanding of the technical phases involved in the design process, with particular attention to equipment sizing, mass and energy balances, and the application of current environmental regulations. The work examines the entire plant development cycle, from the preliminary phase to the sizing of key components, such as water-cooled ducts, combustion chambers, heat exchangers, bag filters, fans, and exhaust stacks. Special emphasis was placed on the technical and functional design of the systems, addressing aspects such as pressure drop calculations, operating temperature control, dust emission reduction, and the management of high-temperature fumes, all aimed at ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with emission limits.
L’elaborato presenta le attività svolte durante il tirocinio presso la società ECO-D Environmental Systems for Industry S.r.l., con particolare focus sulla progettazione e sullo sviluppo di impianti per il trattamento dei fumi generati da forni elettrici ad arco (EAF). L’obiettivo principale è stato l’approfondimento delle fasi tecniche del processo progettuale, con attenzione specifica al dimensionamento delle apparecchiature, ai bilanci di materia ed energia, e all’applicazione delle normative ambientali vigenti. Il lavoro analizza l’intero ciclo di sviluppo impiantistico, dalla fase preliminare al dimensionamento dei componenti principali, quali condotti raffreddati ad acqua, camere di combustione, scambiatori termici, filtri a maniche, ventilatori e camini di espulsione. Particolare rilevanza è stata attribuita al dimensionamento tecnico-funzionale degli impianti, affrontando tematiche come il calcolo delle perdite di carico, il controllo delle temperature operative, il contenimento delle emissioni di polveri e la gestione dei fumi ad alta temperatura, con l’obiettivo di garantire efficienza operativa e conformità ai limiti emissivi.
