The Boeing 747, like many modern aircraft, is equipped with automatic control systems designed to mitigate the effects of atmospheric disturbances and to assist the pilot during flight operations. In this thesis, a mathematical model of the aircraft is developed, capable of describing its dynamics and kinematics. The model is based on the equations of motion of a rigid body and parameterized using data from NASA technical report CR-2144. Subsequently, two controllers are described: an autopilot, which can be used to assist the pilot in maintaining a desired altitude, and a controller designed to mitigate a phenomenon known as Dutch Roll, to which large aircraft with swept wings, such as the Boeing 747, are particularly susceptible.

Abstract
The Boeing 747, like many modern aircraft, is equipped with automatic control systems designed to mitigate the effects of atmospheric disturbances and to assist the pilot during flight operations. In this thesis, a mathematical model of the aircraft is developed, capable of describing its dynamics and kinematics. The model is based on the equations of motion of a rigid body and parameterized using data from NASA technical report CR-2144. Subsequently, two controllers are described: an autopilot, which can be used to assist the pilot in maintaining a desired altitude, and a controller designed to mitigate a phenomenon known as Dutch Roll, to which large aircraft with swept wings, such as the Boeing 747, are particularly susceptible.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
