In the first half of the 20th century, technological knowledge acquired a significant role in the criminal trial, bringing about significant changes compared to the past. In particular, the advent of new technologies related to the study of firearms brings a high level of reliability and precision to the analysis of collected evidence, contributing to a transformation of criminal investigations. The relevance of these new investigations can be seen in the case of John Donald Merrett, in which the analysis of the wound caused by a gunshot contributed to the determination of the defendant's responsibility. In the same years, Charles Waite developed tools to compare bullets found at crime scenes with specific firearms, helping to facilitate the identification of perpetrators. The thesis therefore explores an interdisciplinary field that links technology and law, reflecting on the contribution of forensic science in the history of criminal justice.

Abstract
The thesis therefore explores an interdisciplinary field that links technology and law, reflecting on the contribution of forensic science in the history of criminal justice.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
