This document describes the work carried out during the internship period, lasting approximately three hundred hours, by the graduating student Francesco Lapenna at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Padua. The objectives to be achieved were multiple. First, the configuration of two BeagleBone Black boards was required to enable communication via visible light. Secondly, the implementation of an authentication module on the OpenVLC platform was requested, following the IEEE 802.15.7 standard. This module allows for message authentication with minimal impact on transmission speed and enables the detection of invalid packets at the very first stage of communication. Finally, the system was to be tested under different environmental conditions.
