IL COINVOLGIMENTO DELL’ITALIA NEL SISTEMA SCHENGEN: IL RUOLO DELLA QUESTIONE MIGRATORIA NEI RAPPORTI ITALO-FRANCESI TRA IL 1980 E IL 1990

This thesis aims to analyse the cooperation policies between France and Italy between 1980 and 1989 with regard to irregular migration that affected both countries. The analysis highlights the crucial moments in which the Italian and French governments confronted and clashed on the issue of irregular migration. Particular consideration will be given to the mid-1980s when the issue of irregular migration was a crucial element for Italy's entry (or rather non-entry) into the Schengen area.

La tesi mira ad analizzare le politiche di cooperazione tra Francia e Italia avvenute tra il 1980 e il 1989 per quanto riguarda le migrazioni irregolari che hanno interessato entrambi i paesi. L'analisi evidenzia i momenti cruciali in cui il governo italiano e francese si sono confrontati e scontrati sul tema dell'immigrazione irregolare. Verrà presa in considerazione in particolare modo la metà degli anni 80 in cui il tema dell'immigrazione irregolare rappresenterà un elemento cruciale per l'ingresso (o meglio il mancato ingresso) dell'Italia nell'area Schengen.
