This thesis examines the role of Slavic mythology in the poetic work of Vladimir Nazor, one of the most prominent authors of Croatian literature in the first half of the twentieth century. Focusing on the poem Davor from the collection Slavenske legende (Slavic Legends, 1900), the study shows how myth in Nazor’s poetics transcends folkloric ornamentation and becomes a constitutive element of his literary universe. The analysis, structured in three chapters, considers Nazor’s biographical and literary background, the concept of myth and the pagan elements of Croatian tradition, and the presence of mythological motifs in his poetry. The main argument is that Nazor transforms myth into song and song into myth, creating a symbolic world that unites past and present.
