Explanation and theoretical analysis of the main themes of the gothic as a literary movement and of the author, with a focus on topics such as queerness in the gothic and historiographic metafiction. This is followed by an analysis of the novels "Affinity" and "The Little Stranger" in terms of plot, themes, and the implications of queerness. Concluding with a comparison between the two works and the emergence of similarities and difference in the treatment oh the themes.

Spiegazione e analisi teorica delle tematiche principali del gotico come corrente letteraria e dell'autrice con approfondimento di argomenti quali queerness nel gotico e metafinzione storiografica. Segue l'analisi dei romanzi "Affinità" e "L'ospite" per quanto riguarda trama, temi e implicazioni del queerness. Si giunge alla conclusione con il confronto tra le due opere e l'emergere di somiglianze e differenze nella trattazione delle tematiche.
