This thesis analyzes the phenomenon of Romanian immigration to Italy, with a particular focus on the relationship between the Romanian and Italian languages, as well as the processes of linguistic and cultural interference. Starting from the volume Radici a metà. Trent’anni di immigrazione romena in Italia (IDOS, 2022), the research aims to explore how Romanian citizens living in Italy experience language in their daily lives, their level of proficiency in both languages, and how the migratory context influences their linguistic identity. The second chapter is dedicated to the analysis of Alexandru Cohal’s work, which examines instances of linguistic interference between Romanian and Italian, with special attention to the phonetic, morphosyntactic, and lexical features observed among speakers in the diaspora. The final chapter presents a brief survey. The adopted methodology is based on an anonymous questionnaire distributed to students of Romanian and Moldovan origin, aimed at collecting data on their language skills, education, and everyday language use. The results show a strong tendency toward learning Italian, often motivated by professional, educational, and social factors.
I risultati mostrano una forte propensione all’apprendimento dell’italiano, spesso legata a motivazioni professionali, scolastiche e relazionali.
