Eastern aesthetics offers a unique perspective, conceiving beauty as a balance between presence and absence. This thesis examines the concept of void in Taoist, Zen, and Chan traditions, analyzing it not as absence but as a potential space that enriches reality and promotes self-liberation. Through the study of philosophical texts and artistic practices such as Nō theater and the tea ceremony, void emerges as a fundamental aesthetic and spiritual principle. This work highlights the role of void as a key to understanding aesthetic experience and inner perfection in Chinese and Japanese traditions.
