This thesis aims to analyze the relationship between the artwork and criticism. The central premise is that criticism represents an autonomous form of creation—independent from the artwork itself and, in some respects, even superior to it. This argument will be developed through the critical analysis of key texts and figures, including Oscar Wilde, Walter Benjamin, and Umberto Eco. In the concluding section, a digression will focus on modern and contemporary art, with particular attention to its increasing dependence on criticism. It will be argued that, in many cases, art today survives and gains meaning only through the critical discourse that supports and interprets it.

Abstract
This thesis aims to analyze the relationship between the artwork and criticism. The central premise is that criticism represents an autonomous form of creation—independent from the artwork itself and, in some respects, even superior to it. This argument will be developed through the critical analysis of key texts and figures, including Oscar Wilde, Walter Benjamin, and Umberto Eco. In the concluding section, a digression will focus on modern and contemporary art, with particular attention to its increasing dependence on criticism. It will be argued that, in many cases, art today survives and gains meaning only through the critical discourse that supports and interprets it.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
