This thesis examines the role of voluntary breathing as a tool for psychophysiological regulation, with particular attention to *breathwork* techniques and their effects on stress, anxiety, and well-being. Through a review of scientific literature, the study explores the main contemporary breathing practices as well as the cultural and spiritual roots of conscious breathing, highlighting how breathing patterns have evolved over time and significantly influence health. The aim is to shed light on the potential of breathing as an accessible resource for mental health and mind–body balance.
