This thesis explores the phenomenon of workaholism and its relationship with job performance, examining key theoretical models and definitions. Through a comparative analysis of recent empirical studies, it investigates the causal direction of the relationship and the mediating role of variables such as work engagement, sleep quality, and emotional exhaustion. The findings highlight an ambivalent and complex link, which varies over time and depending on the dimensions of the construct. The research emphasizes the need to distinguish between healthy work engagement and dysfunctional work addiction. Suggestions for prevention and organizational well-being interventions are also discussed.

Abstract
This thesis explores the phenomenon of workaholism and its relationship with job performance, examining key theoretical models and definitions. Through a comparative analysis of recent empirical studies, it investigates the causal direction of the relationship and the mediating role of variables such as work engagement, sleep quality, and emotional exhaustion. The findings highlight an ambivalent and complex link, which varies over time and depending on the dimensions of the construct. The research emphasizes the need to distinguish between healthy work engagement and dysfunctional work addiction. Suggestions for prevention and organizational well-being interventions are also discussed.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
