This thesis aims at exploring and analysing the construct of Workaholism, or work addiction: a psychological phenomenon of considerable relevance in the workplace, which has a significant impact on the psychophysical well-being of workers and their organisational context, as well as on the family and relational fabric. This thesis initially investigates the construct in all its main aspects, analysing the various theoretical definitions found in the literature, the methodologies and main measurement tools, the correlates and the main consequences of the phenomenon. Furthermore, the construct is framed within the multidimensional perspective of the Biopsychosocial Model. Subsequently, one of the antecedents is examined, exploring the important relationship between different dimensions of perfectionism and workaholism. Furthermore, perfectionism is also investigated in relation to constructs such as work engagement and workload by placing the following analysis within a biopsychosocial perspective. Finally, workaholism is explored from a more applied perspective, proposing prevention and intervention strategies aimed at reducing the risks associated with the occurrence of this behavioural addiction. This will be declined at both the individual and organisational levels, these two aspects being closely interconnected and mutually determined.

Abstract
This thesis aims at exploring and analysing the construct of Workaholism, or work addiction: a psychological phenomenon of considerable relevance in the workplace, which has a significant impact on the psychophysical well-being of workers and their organisational context, as well as on the family and relational fabric.
