This thesis analyzes the role played by empathy in the prevention of bullying, focusing on intergroup dynamics. The first chapter presents a theoretical framework of intergroup conflict, exploring cognitive processes such as categorization and outlining the formation of prejudice through the main psychological theories. The second chapter examines empathy in its cognitive and affective components, focusing on their role in the promotion of prosocial behaviors and in the reduction of prejudice and discrimination. The last chapter analyzes school bullying as an intergroup phenomenon. Particular attention is given to school programs based on empathy, which rely on intervention techniques such as peer education, role playing, and socio-emotional education. The thesis integrates theory and practice to propose a critical reflection on educational interventions aimed at countering bullying through the development and promotion of empathy.
