This thesis explores the role of sensory stimulation as a non-pharmacological intervention for the well-being of people with dementia, with a particular focus on the Snoezelen method. After examining the relationship between sensory deterioration and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), the study investigates the contribution of controlled multisensory stimulation, highlighting its principles, modes of application, and therapeutic potential. The review of scientific literature shows immediate positive effects of the Snoezelen method on anxiety, aggression, apathy, and mood, although significant methodological limitations remain, including small sample sizes, heterogeneity of protocols, and challenges in integrating the approach into daily care routines. The findings suggest that Snoezelen should not be regarded merely as a multisensory space, but rather as a philosophy of care centered on the individual, emphasizing empathetic relationships and the personalization of stimuli. The thesis concludes by underlining the need for further rigorous research and the importance of staff training to ensure its real effectiveness and sustainability in healthcare settings.

Abstract
The thesis concludes by underlining the need for further rigorous research and the importance of staff training to ensure its real effectiveness and sustainability in healthcare settings.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
