This paper aim to investigate the phenomenon of akrasia through the lens of Positioning Theory (Harrè & Davies, 1990; Harrè et al., 2009; Harrè, 2015). Akrasia is the condition in which an agent deliberately performs an action against his own better judgment (Rorty, 1990; Romaioli, 2023). Through Positioning Theory the aim is to situate the formulation of the "better judgment" within the positions occupied in the contingent interactional field and the rights and duties that caracterize them. The action performed, then, is coherent with a certain reflexively assumed position and is constructed as akratic when it conflicts with the rights and duties of another position, assumed within a process of repositioning. The central hypotesis is that akrasia arises as the result of positional negotiation which takes place during the conversation, particularly within the positions made available by the interlocutor through their discourse. By studying a natural conversation, using the methodology of Conversational Analysis (Goodwin & Heritage, 1990; Ten Have, 1990), it was possible to illustrate the above-described dynamic, observing how the phenomenon of akrasia is constructed in dialogue with the Other, particularly in the process of interpersonal positioning negotiated during the conversation.

Abstract
By studying a natural conversation, using the methodology of Conversational Analysis (Goodwin & Heritage, 1990; Ten Have, 1990), it was possible to illustrate the above-described dynamic, observing how the phenomenon of akrasia is constructed in dialogue with the Other, particularly in the process of interpersonal positioning negotiated during the conversation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
