It is an on-line study whose aim is to explore the relationship between borderline personality traits, defence mechanisms, separation anxiety symptoms and mentalized affectivity, which is the capacity to comprehend one’s own and others mental state in the context of interpersonal relationships, in a sample of Turkish adults. In this regard, Turkish culture, characterised by strong family ties, a collectivistic perspective and a significant value placed on interpersonal relationships, may modulate the way in which separation anxiety symptoms in individuals with borderline personality traits occur.
