Gestione del tappeto erboso nel rugby moderno di alto livello

This thesis analyzes all aspects related to turf management for competitive rugby. In fact, for a successful game, a turf in good condition can be an important factor, especially in high-level rugby. The aspects that characterize a rugby turf will be analyzed, comparing the various types of construction (natural, synthetic, and mixed grass), and analyzing the opinions of both maintenance workers and athletes regarding these types. The central part of the paper focuses on examining the agronomic and management practices that clubs in the top Italian league implement to ensure that the turf is in excellent condition for every match. To do this, a careful analysis was carried out, which, at the end of this work, identified which strategies are the most effective and what could be the specific common denominator for the proper management of turf intended for rugby.

Questo lavoro di tesi analizza tutte le sfaccettature legate alla gestione del tappeto erboso, finalizzato all’utilizzo nel rugby agonistico. Infatti, per una buona riuscita del gioco, un manto in buone condizioni può rappresentare una discriminante importante, specie se si tratta di rugby di alto livello. Saranno analizzati gli aspetti che caratterizzano un tappeto erboso per il rugby, confrontando le varie tipologie costruttive (erba naturale, sintetica e mista), analizzando anche l’opinione sia dei manutentori, che degli atleti in merito a queste tipologie. La parte centrale dell’elaborato si sviluppa sulla disamina di quelle che sono le pratiche agronomiche e gestionali che i club del massimo campionato italiano attuano per garantire un manto in ottime condizioni ad ogni gara. Per fare ciò, è stata fatta un’attenta analisi dove, alla fine di questo lavoro, si è riscontrato quali strategie, tra queste, è la più efficace e quale potrebbe essere il denominatore comune specifico per una corretta gestione dei manti erbosi destinati al gioco del rugby.
