This thesis aims to analyze anxiety disorders in childhood and adolescence, with the goal of highlighting their main characteristics, behavioral manifestations, and possible treatment approaches. These disorders are characterized by excessive and progressively increasing states of fear and anxiety, which significantly interfere with the daily functioning of children and adolescents. Although anxiety is a natural emotion and can, in some cases, be functional in accomplishing specific tasks, in individuals at a developmental age it may manifest in a disproportionate and decontextualized way, leading to poor emotional awareness and resulting difficulties in emotion regulation. This work explores how such disorders can be addressed during developmental stages, with a particular focus on their impact on academic performance. After outlining typical behavioral patterns and defining the key features of anxiety disorders, the thesis presents the main treatment methodologies and emotional aspects involved, emphasizing the potential for positive outcomes. The thesis concludes with a personal reflection on the topic.
