The thesis analyzed the genetic variability of the Lasca (Protochondrostoma genei), a vulnerable species endemic to the upper Po River basin, with the aim of assessing the degree of genetic similarity or differentiation among sampled populations to determine their potential assignment to distinct conservation units. A total of 135 individuals from 6 populations were examined through mitochondrial DNA analysis (D-loop region), identifying 29 haplotypes. The results did not reveal a clear genetic differentiation among populations; however, it is recommended to complement the study with nuclear DNA analysis to obtain more comprehensive information on the species’ genetic structure.

Abstract
The thesis analyzed the genetic variability of the Lasca (Protochondrostoma genei), a vulnerable species endemic to the upper Po River basin, with the aim of assessing the degree of genetic similarity or differentiation among sampled populations to determine their potential assignment to distinct conservation units. A total of 135 individuals from 6 populations were examined through mitochondrial DNA analysis (D-loop region), identifying 29 haplotypes. The results did not reveal a clear genetic differentiation among populations; however, it is recommended to complement the study with nuclear DNA analysis to obtain more comprehensive information on the species’ genetic structure.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
