Oxygen is essential for proper tissue function, and its deficiency—known as hypoxia—can severely impair cellular regeneration. This paper explores both traditional and innovative solutions to address hypoxia, with a focus on oxygen-generating biomaterials. The main categories of these materials, both organic and inorganic, are analyzed, along with production methods and applications in tissue engineering. Specific examples include pancreatic, cardiac, and bone tissues, as well as wound healing. The study highlights the potential of these materials as emerging tools in regenerative medicine.
L’ossigeno è essenziale per il corretto funzionamento dei tessuti, e la sua carenza, nota come ipossia, può compromettere gravemente la rigenerazione cellulare. Questo elaborato esplora le soluzioni tradizionali e innovative per contrastare l’ipossia, concentrandosi in particolare sui biomateriali generatori di ossigeno. Vengono analizzate le principali categorie di questi materiali, sia organici che inorganici, i metodi di produzione e le applicazioni in ingegneria tissutale, con esempi nei tessuti pancreatico, cardiaco, osseo e nella guarigione delle ferite. Il lavoro evidenzia il potenziale di questi materiali come strumenti emergenti nella medicina rigenerativa.
